Responsibilities
The Clinical Neuropsychologist is responsible for providing neuropsychological services to children and young people with a history of acquired brain injury, neurological disease/disorder and/or developmental disorder. Responsibilities include formal cognitive assessment, psycho-education to children, families and schools, feedback to clinical team members, and preparation of a report summarising key information from the assessment process. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team, participating in peer supervision, and performing psychology tasks and meetings. The Neuropsychologist will work as part of the Western NSW LHD Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Clinic to provide neuropsychological telehealth assessment services to children in rural and remote Western NSW. The clinic includes a Developmental Paediatrician, Social Worker, Nurse and Administration staff. The role involves collaborating with the team to conduct comprehensive assessments and provide feedback and recommendations to families and school staff. A comprehensive clinical report detailing cognitive abilities and neurodevelopmental diagnoses, with recommendations to support the child in community and education settings, will be prepared. The position reports to the Child Development Unit Head of Department, participates in peer supervision, and may perform administrative duties. Clinical support and supervision are provided by the Psychology team lead of the Child Development Unit.
About You
Describe the qualities and attributes of an ideal candidate, followed by specific skills and qualifications.
Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and full endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology or eligible to progress to same.
Minimum 2 year full time equivalent accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate Degree in Clinical Neuropsychology
Experience in the neuropsychological assessment and management of children with a history of acquired brain injury, developmental disorder and neurological conditions.
Applicants currently enrolled in a combined Masters/PhD are eligible to apply if they have completed the equivalent of Masters degree requirements as part of the PhD pathway. Evidence of this is demonstrated by a completed PDEC-76 form and a cover letter from the University confirming Masters degree requirements have been met.
Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed an accredited Masters degree and are awaiting graduation. Written confirmation from the University is required.
Successful applicants who have completed the Masters degree or Masters degree requirements and are awaiting full registration will be paid at Year 2 of the Psychologist Scale until full registration, at which point they will commence on Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale.
