The Warragul Linen Service is a business unit of the West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG) and are among the leading linen service providers to major public hospitals and aged care facilities across Metropolitan Melbourne and surrounds. Our industrial laundry plant is situated in the regional town of Warragul, behind the West Gippsland Hospital.
About the position
We are seeking a motivated and reliable applicant to join us as a Linen Distributor on a Casual basis at Alfred Health. This role is responsible for delivering linen across the Alfred, managing soiled linen responsibilities, and performing some simple administration tasks within a team environment. Shifts are 5 hours in length from 0630 – 1130 and predominantly involve manual handling tasks.
There is also the possibility to increase your hours by working across other Alfred Health sites on an as-needed basis.
Casuals are employed on an 'as needs' basis to backfill leave and extra shifts on days, nights and weekends. Casual positions do not include regular hours.
Major tasks include:
* Transportation of clean linen throughout the hospital premises.
* Delivery of linen orders in line with contract terms and conditions.
* Stock-take and replenishment as required, using imprest systems.
* Linen forward ordering.
* Administration of requisitions.
* Relief work at other hospital sites, on an as needs basis.
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Good customer service skills.
* Ability to work in a manual handling role on one's feet.
* Accurate recording skills.
* Ability to cooperate and work independently and/or in a team environment.
* A history of punctuality and solid attendance.
* Good time management skills.
* Well organised and able to manage own workload.
Please note: Uniforms and protective clothing are provided. This role involves manual handling tasks, including lifting and pushing. Own transport required to get to and from work.
IMPORTANT:Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
