VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge is looking for an experienced and exceptional Volunteer Coordinator on a part-time basis to join our team at Tanawha, reporting to the Refuge Manager.
SCARS is a not-for-profit charity, which cares for cats and dogs which are abandoned or surrendered. It runs a non-euthanasia shelter which cares for up to 70 cats and 50 dogs at a time, until they are permanently re-homed.
As Volunteer Co-ordinator you will have responsibility for recruiting, organising, motivating and retaining volunteers for a wide range of activities throughout the Shelter. Up to 200 volunteers are actively involved with SCARS.
The position is initially for 3 days (job-share) per week; this will increase to 4 days as the current Volunteer Coordinator transitions from this position.
Role and Responsibility
· Recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.)
· Collect information on availabilities and skills
· Arrange for appropriate induction and training when needed
· Produce schedules for everyday activities
· Assign responsibilities for special events
· Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale actions
· Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed
· Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
· Produce meaningful reports of volunteer recruitment, retention and activity
· Procure a diverse range of goods and services for refuge operation
· Oversee repairs and maintenance at the refuge.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
· At least two years’ experience in a similar role
· A can-do attitude
· Ability to communicate clearly to internal and external stakeholders
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
· Willingness to become involved in the organisational and volunteering culture
Desirable
· Training skills
· Drivers licence
· Familiarity with Better Impact volunteer management system
