The business: The Chief Operations Office (COO) keeps the Bank running and powers our customer obsession. We are the process engine room supporting the fulfilment of a wide range of products for CBA’s Retail, Commercial and Institutional customers, along with running regulatory operations and Group regulatory projects. The Market Operations (MO) team within COO is accountable for operations activities that support the Global Markets, Settlements, Trade Finance, Institutional Lending and Transaction Banking products for Institutional and Business Bank clients across Australia, Asia, Europe and North America. The MO Line 1 Risk Team partners with MO as well as our product partners, Line 2 and Line 3 to advise on risk, compliance, control, and change, ensuring the safety of our organisation and customers. We do this by fostering a culture of risk awareness and sound risk management practices. See yourself in our team : As Senior Manager Risk, Controls and Enablement – Market Operations, your role contributes to this outcome including: Act as a trusted advisor to Market Operations leaders, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, including Product Line 1, Line 2 and audit. Proactively identify and assess risks across processes, systems, and people, collaborating with teams to design, implement and manage effective controls. Proactively detect and respond to changes in the risk landscape impacting Market Operations. Provide guidance on managing risks from regulatory changes, industry practices, process enhancements, or product/service changes while ensuring alignment with our risk appetite, strategy, standards and policies. Encourage a culture of learning and collaboration by leading, motivating and engaging team members to achieve business objectives. We’re interested in hearing from people who have: Strong knowledge of risk frameworks, control design, and compliance obligations within an institutional banking or operations business context to identify, assess, and mitigate risks effectively. Proficiency in assessing risks during regulatory, industry practice, operational, and product changes, while leveraging tools for effective risk monitoring and reporting. Proven ability to lead risk-related initiatives, drive strategic projects, and implement process improvements by coordinating with stakeholders, managing timelines, and delivering measurable outcomes. Advanced capabilities in risk analysis, root cause identification, and developing solutions to address challenges specific to institutional or operations businesses. Strong relationship management skills to collaborate with business leaders and teams in institutional or operations businesses, providing strategic risk advice and fostering partnerships. Sound experience in driving a proactive risk culture, coaching teams, and embedding risk management practices. A pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset, with a proactive, can-do approach, open to new ideas and experiences and adaptable to change Excellent written communication skills, including interest in preparing Executive level papers.
