The Company

Concentis is partnering with Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) to source a Communications Specialist who will provide considered advice and support the organisation's strategic design and implementation of communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.

Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority constituted under the Water Act 2000 whose purpose is to supply bulk water to customers in the Gladstone Region. GAWB manages a variety of assets including Awoonga Dam, a network of pipes and infrastructure such as pump stations and water tre, fish production facilities,atment plants. GAWB also operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish production facilities and stocking programs. The organisation is committed to the local and hands‐on relationships with their customers and community to drive continued operations which benefit the region. The company's vision is to deliver safe and reliable water services to enhance the liveability of the region.

About the role:

Reporting to the Communications and Community Relations Manager, this position supports the strategic design and implementation of communication and community engagement strategies. You will contribute to a positive organisational culture and protect and enhance GAWB's reputation through appropriate communication activities. You will support the delivery of corporate communications and community relations frameworks across the business as well as providing advice on communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will include:
* Manage the flow of correspondence across dedicated channels, designed for the community to engage with GAWB on issues such as community complaints and complements
* Ensure regular reporting on communications and stakeholder engagement activities
* Develop and implement communication strategies and campaigns to engage stakeholders and the community, particularly in support of Capital projects
* Produce high quality internal communications through a fortnightly newsletter and ensure materials are aligned with organisational values and corporate identity
* Provide communications support and advice to leaders, with a focus on reputational risk mitigation
* Coordinate community investment and funding programs to ensure governance and return on investment
* Identify and respond to potential media relations issues in collaboration with the Communications and Community Relations Manager
* Support emergency management communication planning and execution
* Coordinate with external providers including designers, printers and consultants
* Contribute to the design and delivery of advertising materials and broader external communications
* Managing organisational merchandise including stock control
Essential experience/capabilities:
* Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations Marketing or a related discipline
* Demonstrated experience in developing and executing communications and stakeholder engagement strategies
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience across multiple print, digital and media platforms
* Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills including ability to work with leaders, media and the public
* Skilled in producing clear and concise written materials along with strong analytical skills
* Eligibility for CPRA or IAP2 membership
* Communications support for project management experience
* Graphic design experience
