About the Branch
The ACCU Scheme (Vegetation), Nature Repair and Analytics branch supports the administration of projects that sequester carbon through the restoration, regeneration and protection of native forest and activities in the plantation forest sector under the Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCU) Scheme.
The branch also manages the Nature Repair Market - a voluntary national initiative which opened in March 2025 that enables people to take action to restore and protect the environment.
In addition, the branch also undertakes a broad range of activities aimed at improving engagement, participation and effective administration of both the ACCU Scheme and Nature Repair Market, ensuring the integrity of these schemes.
About the Sections
Plantings and Plantations section and Land and Forest section : These sections administer elements of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011 and associated legislative instruments supporting the delivery of carbon abatement through vegetation projects.
* The Plantings and Plantations section administer methods relating to the establishment of environmental plantings and establishment and management plantation forestry.
* The Land and Forest section administer methods relating to the regeneration and protection of native forest.
