Volunteer Retail Assistant (all duties) - Geelong West, VIC
Key responsibilities
* Customer Service: Warmly greet customers, guide them to store areas, inform them of specials, and assist donation donors and community members seeking aid.
* Point of sale: Provide attentive and patient service, assist with sales transactions, and answer customer enquiries in-store and over the phone.
* Displays and merchandising: With store manager guidance, display items attractively and safely, maintain clear thoroughfares, and keep floors and displays clean and fresh.
* Quality control: Inspect items for sale, ensuring appropriateness, functionality, and good presentation. Prepare items for sale by steaming, hanging, cleaning, packaging, and sorting; unsuitable items go to recycling or waste areas.
* Pricing: Apply agreed pricing standards and ensure all items are priced before display.
* Safety: Maintain safety for customers, visitors, and staff by following safe work practices, adhering to Salvation Army child‑safe policies, and keeping work areas hazard‑free.
Qualifications and skills
* Experience in retail, point‑of‑sale systems, and customer service preferred but not mandatory; volunteers receive on‑the‑job training.
