Position Information
Woniora Road School is a School for Specific Purpose located in Hurstville. The school offers full-time enrolment for 49 secondary-aged students from the Southern Sydney Metropolitan area who have been offered placement via referral to a regional placement panel. All students have been diagnosed with an internalising emotional disorder and/or mental health issues and have been referred after extended periods of disengagement from learning through either non-attendance and/or safety concerns in the mainstream environment stemming from their mental health issues. By providing engaging academic programs in a highly supportive environment, the school enables students to achieve academic goals and have an improved sense of wellbeing.
Responsibilities
* Deliver the school's Face‐to‐Face curriculum in Mathematics for Stage 4 & Stage 5.
* Support Stage 6 students in engaging successfully with their Distance Education coursework.
* Work closely with the Assistant Principal as a hub teacher for a small group of students.
* Co‐ordinate Personalised Learning and Support Plans with the wellbeing team and School Learning Support Officers.
Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach Mathematics (Years 7‐12) and approval to teach Emotion Disturbance (Secondary) and/or experience teaching students with Emotion Disturbance.
* Proven ability to deliver differentiated and innovative mathematics programmes employing explicit teaching strategies to engage the full range of learners across the Mathematics curriculum.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
