About the role As a peer support worker, you will draw on your lived experience and understanding of mental health to deliver group activities and programs that support individuals living with mental illness, using a compassionate, person-centred approach. In your role as a peer support worker, you will use your personal journey of mental health recovery to inspire optimism and empower others. By offering trauma-informed support, you will create a safe space where lived experience is recognised as a vital foundation for healing and connection. About you To be considered for this rewarding role you will have: highly developed person-centred communication skills excellent communication skills ability to work under minimal supervision with the capacity to exercise initiative in the application of work processes and procedures and establish objectives and outcomes a demonstrated ability to show empathy and compassion positive, can-do attitude Role Requirements lived experience with mental health recovery certificate IV in Mental health or equivalent (desirable) current nationally recognised first aid and CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain) a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain) NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain) NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety & You" completion certificate (or the ability to obtain) a current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland drivers licence roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance About the offer The peer support worker is a casual position based in Townsville.
