Expression of interest - Team Leader - Mechanical Fitters to join our dynamic team in Pakenham. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a skilled team working on the modification of new and refurbished High-Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT) rollingstock.
About the Role
As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating a team of Mechanical Fitters to ensure high-quality modifications are delivered on time and to specification. You will provide technical guidance, manage workflow, and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor a team of Mechanical Fitters, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met
* Allocate tasks and monitor progress to meet project timelines
* Ensure compliance with safety procedures and Zero Harm principles
* Liaise with supervisors and project managers to resolve technical issues
* Support training and development of team members
* Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives
Skills & Experience
Trade-qualified: Certificate III in Mechanical Trade (Fitter)
Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role
Rail industry experience - highly desirable
Ability to interpret technical drawings and provide guidance
Strong organizational and communication skills
Flexible, resourceful, and solution-oriented mindset
Additional certifications such as Forklift, Dogmen, Crane, Working at Heights, and EWP tickets are desirable. Experience with LEAN or KANBAN methodologies is highly regarded.
