About the Role
Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the Youth Access Clinician is responsible for providing single session counselling and brief interventions to young people who access the headspace Northam Centre. Key responsibilities include:
* Provide psycho-social assessment and intervention using the headspace tools.
* Conduct initial intake of all referrals to determine appropriateness for service, including responding to enquiries and assessment of risk.
* Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records in approved database system.
* Respond to enquiries from young people, families, agencies, and community members seeking information and support.
* Participate in regular clinical case review meetings and multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure appropriate clinical service pathway and service delivery.
* Support community engagement staff at local events where suitable, to promote the Centre's services.
About You
To be considered for this position, applicants will have:
* Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's or higher) in a relevant clinical discipline including psychology, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, or mental health nursing.
* Current membership and/or registration with an appropriate professional body.
* A passion for working with young people and experience coordinating care for young people in a mental health setting.
* Knowledge, skills, and experience in carrying out detailed psychosocial and suicide risk assessments.
* Ability to work independently and effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience and competence working with vulnerable groups, including those who identify as LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, or CALD.
* 'C' class Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
* Capacity to work one late shift a week (Wednesday 'til 7pm), and outside of normal business hours as required.
