Where you'll be working

The Eurobodalla Health Service is located in the Yuin Nation on the beautiful south coast of NSW. It is a networked service spread over three campuses, with two hospitals co-located with community health, Batemans Bay and Moruya, and a standalone community health centre in Narooma collocated with the library.

The NSW Government has announced $260 million to build in Moruya, a sustainable, modern and purpose-built hospital to support the needs of the entire Eurobodalla Shire from Narooma to Batemans Bay to service the ever-growing coastal population. This new facility is expected to open to patients in 2025.

Your Opportunity:

- Provide an accountable and high standard service consistent with the defined scope of clinical practice for SNSWLHD and all NSW Health Policies and as required by other senior medical staff and the facility.

- Provide best practice evidence based clinical services to achieve quality patient outcomes. • Be dedicated to a teamwork philosophy and be able to demonstrate ability to work as a team member within the broader multidisciplinary team.

- Ensure detailed patient treatment plans are in place to support the timely management of patients and effective clinical handover processes in accordance with facility and SNSWLHD guidelines.

- Ensure a high standard of clinical record documentation is maintained, including the completion of all clinical records (including medication charts and other orders) to reflect clinical decisions and optimize data collection.

- Actively participate in risk management and quality programs to improve organisational processes and own practices.

- Adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence-based best practice and any clinical protocols as approved by SNSWLHD from time to time.

- Comply with relevant legislation and regulations, NSW Ministry of Health policies and SNSWLHD Values, goals and strategies.

Selection Criteria:

1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Ophthalmologist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.

2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Ophthalmology at the role delineation of the service.

3. Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.

4. Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.

5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education and quality improvement.

6. Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of skilled behaviour to junior medical staff.

7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.

8. Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, goals and strategies.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
