The Role
ALS Water in Canberra is seeking a Casual Sample Receipt Officer committed to delivering excellent client service. This casual position offers a balance of physically collecting and handling sample eskies and desk‑based tasks such as reviewing client Chain of Custody documentation and entering information into the ALS LIMS system.
The Day-to-Day
* Greet and assist clients by phone and in person
* Process incoming sample deliveries into the laboratory, including sorting and labelling
* Read and understand client Chain of Custody (CoC) documentation, including analytical testing requirements
* Accurately enter information from the CoC into the ALS LIMS system
* Engage with clients regarding sample submissions and related queries
* Manually move samples and eskies around the laboratory using provided equipment (typically around 15kg)
* Maintain an excellent standard of occupational health and safety
The Essentials
* Laboratory or chemistry experience or qualifications preferred but not essential
* Excellent communication, organisational and time‑management skills
* Professional presentation and strong attention to detail
* Demonstrated reliability and efficiency
* Good computer literacy (training provided for internal recording systems)
* Ability to absorb and retain high volumes of information
* Ability to process large volumes of samples and records efficiently within strict timeframes
