Do Work That Matters

Leidos Australia delivers IT and airborne solutions that protect and advance the Australian way of life. Our 2000 local experts, backed by our global experience and network of partners, are working to solve the world's toughest challenges in government, intelligence, defence, aviation, border protection and health markets.

Your New Role and Responsibilities

As a Help Desk Engineer, you will support the systems, users, and services that keep secure national programs operating effectively every day. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining the reliability and availability of critical ICT environments that enable analysts, operators, and technical teams across government, defence, and intelligence missions.

Your work will span a variety of security engineering and assurance activities. A typical week could include:

* Lead complex incident resolution and deep‐dive troubleshooting across hardware, software, network, identity, and secure platforms.
* Perform systems administration including provisioning, endpoint and server maintenance, patching, configuration management, and system health monitoring.
* Administer and support secure or classified environments in accordance with security frameworks and operational procedures.
* Conduct root cause analysis and contribute to problem management, long‐term remediation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Provide hands‐on, on‐site ICT support including device deployments, workstation builds, secure network patching, cabling, and hardware lifecycle management.
* Liaise directly with users, stakeholders, and VIP/operational staff to resolve in‐facility issues where remote support is insufficient.
* Collaborate with engineering, network, cyber, and operations teams to support system upgrades, integrations, escalated incidents, and uplift Help Desk capability.
What You'll Bring to Make an Impact
* Degree in a relevant ICT discipline or equivalent industry experience, certifications, or demonstrated operational capability.
* Experience in Defence, intelligence, or other secure operational environments highly regarded.
* Strong background in ICT support, system administration, or operational ICT engineering.
* Demonstrated expertise in Windows administration, endpoint and server management, Active Directory/IAM, network fundamentals, and system monitoring.
* Proven ability to independently manage complex incidents, make sound technical decisions, and provide technical leadership.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and maintain secure, compliant ICT operations.

Don't worry if you don't tick all the boxes – if you meet most of them, we encourage you to submit your application. We're most interested in your strengths, what you want to learn and how far you want to go.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold an active TSPV Clearance, accompanied by the ability to be successful for a DISA/OSA.
