About the role
Reporting to Chief Risk Officer, this role is instrumental in ensuring the Group effectively manages financial risk in a manner consistent with its strategic objectives, risk appetite and regulatory obligations. This position provides independent oversight, challenge, and advice across the bank's capital, liquidity, funding, market, interest rate, and treasury related risk exposures.
Operating within the 3 Lines of Defence, as Line 2, this role ensures the bank manages its financial risks within Board approved Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and Risk Management Strategy (RMS) and in alignment with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority's (APRA) prudential standards and internal policies. This will support a strong risk culture, effective governance, and resilient financial risk management practices.
The position will manage a small team of direct reports across financial and non‐financial (operational) risk exposures.
The position can be based at our head office in Perth or one of our corporate offices in Brisbane or Coffs Harbour and will be eligible for hybrid working arrangements.
What will you bring?
The successful candidate will possess the following:
* Experience in Line 2 Financial Risk role across Market Risk, Treasury and Balance Sheet Risk Management within a banking environment.
* Experience in a Line 1 risk functions is highly desirable.
* A strong understanding of capital, liquidity, funding, market risk, Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) and securitisation structures.
* Experience with Treasury products, derivatives, wholesale funding instruments, cashflow forecasting, and balance sheet dynamics.
* Familiarity with APRA prudential standards and stress testing including the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP).
* The ability to interpret financial risk data and communicate meaningful insights.
* A tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field.
