Trans-Tasman organisation that has a rich history and a vibrant membership base

Lead with purpose

Uphold excellence and build on a legacy of impact

The Position

The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the planned retirement of the current CEO after a distinguished tenure. This transition marks a pivotal moment for the College, offering a special opportunity to build on a strong foundation and guide the organisation into a new era of strategic growth, innovation, and influence.

Reporting to the President and ANZCA Council, the CEO will lead, manage and continue to build the organisation's capacity to advocate on behalf of the profession and deliver programs and services that enhance the profession's standards of excellence. The CEO will oversee the day-to-day management of the College and will be accountable for driving and delivering key strategic priorities as agreed with Council. This will require a visionary leader who can translate strategy into practice and who is adept at proposing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives along with their prioritisation.

Recognised as a visionary and accomplished CEO, the successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills along with the proven ability to advocate diplomatically, build effective partnerships and foster high performance within a complex organisation. Equipped with some experience in health care, the new CEO will combine a collaborative and respectful leadership approach with the ability to develop and implement a vision for the future. A well-developed understanding of corporate governance is essential along with outstanding commercial acumen, an innovative outlook and a commitment to accountability and transparency.

This high-profile leadership position is located in Melbourne and requires interstate and international travel.

The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), which includes the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM), is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation responsible for training doctors (trainees) in Australia and New Zealand to become specialist anaesthetists (ANZCA fellows) and/or specialist pain medicine physicians (FPM fellows).
