Senior Patient Catering Supervisor

About the Role:

As a Senior Patient Catering Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing your own working time and duties, scheduling, chairing team meetings, and referring to the deputy manager as needed. You will organize rotas, ensuring staffing levels are maintained through ward shift patterns and 24-hour cover in A&E, 365 days a year.

Key responsibilities include coordinating the deployment of staff for hydration rounds, food delivery service, and cleaning services. You will conduct weekly audits with team members and sign off on cleaning schedules.

Supervising catering hosts is another critical aspect of this role. You will deliver the catering service according to National Standards for Healthcare Food and Drink and National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness. Providing training, guidance, and leadership to host/hostess staff regarding their duties and responsibilities is essential.

Ensuring all employees provide a flawless customer service experience is paramount. As a first-level trainer, you will work one-on-one to ensure each employee works to correct standards. Ensuring full training on food safety and allergen awareness is also crucial.

Planning work and that of the team to ensure agreed service level is maintained is vital. Reporting faults and environmental damage in ward areas, ward kitchens, and the wider Trust to Trust property through line manager and Datix system is also required.

Producing reports in keeping with the Trust's and line managers' requirements is necessary. Maintaining high standards of personal presentation and hygiene during duty performance is expected.

Assisting management in developing the service and being prepared to recommend and initiate changes is important. Completing accurate and factual reports of relevant issues within the patient catering department and informing supervisor colleagues and line manager of any ongoing issues is necessary.

Communicating with a professional manner to other Trust managers is essential. Attending meetings representing Hotel Services for issues affecting Patient Catering services is also required.

Undertaking training as required to ensure duties are fully carried out is expected. Having regard to the security of premises and environment, following laid-down procedures in relation to key disciplines and personal safety is also necessary.
