Hands-On, Community-Focused Leadership

Bloodwood Tree is looking for a full-time Community Services Coordinator, based in South Hedland, WA.

Reporting to the Community Services Manager, you will lead and improve three established community services programs, with a strong hands-on focus on the Hedland Aboriginal Home Ownership Program (HAHOP). This role has been created as part of an internal restructure to strengthen leadership, coordination, and service consistency across existing programs.

Balancing direct client support with people leadership and stakeholder engagement, you will play a key role in improving processes, supporting staff capability, and delivering stronger outcomes for individuals, families, and the wider community.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Leading, improving, and strengthening the Hedland Aboriginal Home Ownership Program, Community Connect, and Mini Mart services, with a strong focus on home ownership pathway
* Managing an active home ownership caseload, supporting clients to transition from social housing into sustainable home ownership or private rental
* Providing one-on-one client support including intake, assessment, advocacy, and personalised housing plans
* Leading, supervising, and coaching a small team to improve performance, accountability, and service delivery
* Building culturally safe, respectful relationships with clients, families, Elders, and community partners
* Strengthening partnerships with housing providers, government agencies, and external services
* Monitoring program outcomes, compliance, reporting, and funding requirements
* Driving continuous improvement by fixing unclear processes, strengthening systems, and addressing legacy issues within existing programs
* Upholding governance, WHS, and organisational policies and procedures
* Managing complex client situations, including conflict or challenging behaviours, with professionalism, fairness, and cultural sensitivity

The Right Person, Not Just the Right Skills

To qualify, you will need relevant experience in community services, housing, tenancy, or home ownership programs, along with a valid WA Driver's Licence. A minimum of several years' experience working in a community-facing role, ideally within Aboriginal or Indigenous contexts, will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

* Experience working with Aboriginal communities, ideally in the Pilbara or Kimberley regions
* Knowledge of tenancy management, housing systems, or home ownership pathways
* Exposure to government-funded programs, contracts, and compliance requirements
* Experience managing or contributing to client caseloads
* Staff supervision, coaching, or leadership experience
* Strong reporting, documentation, and administrative capability

As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, high cultural awareness, the ability to work without bias, and confidence managing complex or high-pressure situations with professionalism and empathy. You'll be confident handling conflict, supporting change, and leading people through improvement — while maintaining fairness, impartiality, and respect.

This is a hands-on coordinator role suited to someone who enjoys balancing client work with leadership responsibilities, and who is motivated by making tangible improvements to services and community outcomes.

Your Work, Recognised and Respected

This role offers more than just a job — it offers stability, purpose, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

You'll enjoy a competitive hourly rate of $45 per hour, plus a range of attractive benefits including:

* $300 per week Pilbara allowance
* $1.77 per hour remote allowance
* Enjoy a competitive hourly rate, generous allowances, and 6 weeks' annual leave
* Annual $1,000 flight allowance (after 12 months' service)
* Transitional housing support available for eligible relocating candidates
* Support to obtain required licences and clearances
* A supportive leadership environment that values fresh ideas and continuous improvement

Be Part of the Story – Join Bloodwood Tree

In the first weeks, the focus will be on learning organisational policies and procedures, understanding program contracts, KPIs, and reporting requirements, before increasing community and stakeholder engagement.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created leadership role where your experience, ideas, and cultural awareness will be genuinely valued.

If you're looking to take the next step in your community services career — and want to help strengthen housing outcomes and community-led programs across the Pilbara — we'd love to hear from you.
