Overview
John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA) is seeking a Technical Support Arts Officer for a 6‐month fixed‐term full‐time position commencing Term 3, 2026, with possible extension or permanency.
Role
The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Arts, including Gifted and Talented programs, by preparing, maintaining and organising specialist learning spaces. This includes practical, hands‐on tasks such as costume construction, set‐up of production materials, and equipment.
The Officer will maintain appropriate documentation for all equipment, machine, and materials in accordance with occupational safety and health requirements, work collaboratively with a production team, and contribute to performances, exhibitions and creative projects, ensuring safe, efficient, high‐quality artistic learning experiences for students.
Media Arts responsibilities
* Maintain specialist media spaces, including studios, editing suites and production equipment.
* Ensure students can safely and confidently engage in filming, sound recording and post‐production work.
* Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot equipment, and assist with practical demonstrations.
* Support a busy production schedule, contributing to school films, broadcasts, exhibitions and assessments.
* Enhance production quality by setting up professional‐standard equipment, managing digital assets and ensuring efficient workflows.
Qualifications & Experience
* Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in the operation of technical/industrial equipment within an arts workshop/class or similar environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 and its application in industrial environments.
* Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels.
* Effective time management, planning and organisational skills.
Eligibility
* Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or possess valid visa with work rights for the term of appointment.
* Valid Working With Children Check before start.
* Consents to Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtains current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education's Screening Unit before start.
