Are you a skilled archivist looking for a new challenge? Cambridge University Library is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Project Archivist.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for arranging, describing, and auditing the physical condition of the Stephen Hawking Archive. This will involve rehousing and reviewing the archive to identify and manage personal information, including special category data.
The archive was recently allocated to Cambridge University Library under the Acceptance in Lieu scheme. The Project Archivist will work closely with our collections team to create a catalogue of the archive following international and local standards for archival description. The catalogue will be generated using the Archive Management System, ArchivesSpace, and published on our online discovery platform, ArchiveSearch.
Responsibilities:
* Arrange and describe the archive to ensure its long-term preservation and accessibility.
* Conduct research and analysis to identify and manage personal information, including special category data.
* Work collaboratively with our collections team to develop a comprehensive catalogue of the archive.
Requirements:
* Substantial experience cataloguing archives to professional standards and working in a similar environment.
* Proficient knowledge of archival cataloguing standards, excellent research and analytical skills, attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, and qualification to undergraduate degree level in a relevant subject.
