Senior Project Manager
A leading provider of open source software and operating systems offers a unique opportunity to manage projects through their complete life cycle. This includes ensuring that the overall goals for both the company and the client are met.
Delivering engineering professional services is a key responsibility of this role, requiring successful project management and strong communication skills.
Collaboration with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images to customers is also essential. Other tasks include assisting in the development of project statements of work and drafting project-specific schedules/project plans.
Client agreement to the project schedule and agreed-upon work items must be obtained. Ensuring projects are delivered within time/resource/scope expectations is crucial, as is managing project risk mitigation and plans.
Technical issues must be driven to reach desired delivery outcomes, and daily/weekly communication with clients and internal stakeholders is vital. Managing delivery schedules of critical third-party deliverables is also important.
This role requires project managers to keep management informed of assigned project status. Identifying custom engineering requests not part of an existing business contract is also necessary. Advocating for appropriate technologies from Canonical's product portfolio is another key responsibility.
Strong leadership and problem-solving skills are required, along with experience building successful internal and external partnerships. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English are necessary.
Experience managing cross-cultural and multi-continent resources, preferably in Asia, Europe, and the Americas, is preferred. PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification is desirable.
A willingness to work non-standard hours and travel up to 4 times a year for internal events is required.
