Senior Speech Pathologist - Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)

Mental Health Drug & Alcohol - Orange

About the role

The Speech Pathology team at Orange Health Service are looking for a Senior Speech Pathologist to work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). This temporary vacancy role covers inpatient and outpatient services.

Community CAMHS offer specialist assessment and care for children and young people (0-18 years) with complex mental health challenges.

The service works with children and young people when other treatments have not worked, or when a mental illness is having a big impact on their health and wellbeing.

The Gaagumarra Ngu-mambinya CAMHS inpatient unit is based in Orange but accepts patients from across NSW. The unit provides voluntary and involuntary care in a hospital setting, for young people aged between 12 and 17 years. The unit is for short term, specialist assessments and recovery. It offers care when community-based treatments have not helped, or when a mental health crisis or mental illness cannot be safely treated in the community.

You will work within intelligent and supportive multidisciplinary teams including Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Mental Health Nurses, Aboriginal Health Clinicians, Allied Health Assistants, Administration Staff, Peer Support Workers, and teachers from the local school. There are also local and external supervision opportunities to develop skills in working within Mental Health.

As the Senior Speech Pathologist within the CAMHS unit, you will be responsible for providing high quality, culturally competent integrated services to children, adolescents and families with mental health needs. You will be responsible for clinically supervising and supporting staff as directed by the head of department and assisting with quality and service improvements. You will be passionate about collaboration and innovation and inspire and empower a supportive team.
