About the role
As a Uniform Presser, you will start early at 5am and finish early at 1pm, you will come in and sort the uniforms and then load the washers and after that condition the uniforms in the dryers ready for pressing. You will press all the staff uniforms as per Marriott standards and send them to the uniform room for distribution. You will have sole control of the laundry until our washerman starts at 6.30am, this is an autonomous role and you will have control of the pressing each day. We are a 7-day-a- week operation, and as such this is a shared role. You will press 4 days a week with one day on the laundry floor doing general attendant duties. It is not a position where you will be lifting heavy weights but it will suit someone who likes to stay busy, has an eye for detail, works well with others but also likes to take control of their position.
Critical responsibilities:

Ensure correct usage of all equipment
*
Learn the machines you work with and report faults when they occur
*
Comply with and demonstrate awareness of Workplace Health and Safety policies, learn how to handle chemicals safely
*
Washing, drying, pressing and folding clean linen from rooms and outlets
*
Operate and monitor washing and drying machinery, including adding chemicals and cleaning lint traps.
*
Identify stained or damaged items and determine status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard.
*
Inspect cleanliness of articles removed from the washer, dryer, and place in clean linen carts.
*
Set dryers to designated times and temperatures based on fabrics contained in load.

Remove lint and debris from dryer filters after each load.

Hang and fold clean articles into designated size and department.

Maintain accurate records of items laundered.
