Defence network engineering environment
In order to be considered for this contract, you will need to be an Australian citizen and currently hold an NV1 level security clearance or higher. Contract is due to commence July 2026.
The Commonwealth seeks to engage à Communications Network Engineer to assist with the design, development, build and support of deployable capability across Land Combat System (LCS), and the integration of new configurations and systems into information domains. The position is primarily a technical hands-on role and requires a combination of disciplines including technical hands-on communications engineering, innovation, test and evaluation, and documentation and is primarily aligned to projects: iBMS-C2, DLAN, JP2048, L400, L2047, and Army Minors.
Some of the key tasks will involve:
* Design, build, implement and manage Land, Coalition and Joint Wide Area TCP/IP Networks in deployable and fixed domains.
* Design, build, implement and manage Land, Coalition and Joint Local Area Networks, based on IEEE802.3, IEEE802.11 and TCP/IP Networks.
* Design, Build and implement virtual server architectures based on VMWare, Hyper-V and KVM.
* Manage security architectures within deployable LANs, based on key technologies such as ForeScout, Splunk and McAfee software implementations.
* Support the design, build and implementation of cross-domain solutions, including (but not limited to) AUS MPE-to-DSN and AUS MPE-to-other Mission Partner Environments.
* Conduct scripting, automation and continuous integration (CI/CD), to support innovation activities, including, but not limited to projects such as, iBMS-C2, HQOTM, LNBL, Generic Vehicle Architecture integration.
* Support innovation activities to demonstrate technology (such as secure wireless technologies or virtual reality platforms) integration on modern Military Command and Control systems.
* Evaluate, analyse and integrate existing in-service, MOTS, COTS, and developmental hardware and software solutions, into existing systems and subsystems.
As the ideal candidate you should have the following skills:
* Relevant tertiary and industry qualifications and experience for the deliverables required.
* Extensive (greater than 10 years) experience in the field of network administration, and Wide Area Network integration; preferably within coalition or joint operations on deployable Defence domains.
* Extensive (greater than 10 years) experience in Local Area Network administration, preferably within Government Local Area Networks within the deployable Defence domain.
* Exposure or experience working within the Defence deployable domains, DLAN or commensurate networks.
* Qualifications, or practical experience with core CISCO based networking technologies.
* Experience with network integration at the tactical and operational levels within the ADF, including interfaces to strategic network boundaries.
