Overview
Senior Database Administrator
We are seeking a resilient, battle-tested Senior Database Administrator to lead the charge in managing and migrating our most critical data environments. This isn't a "business as usual" maintenance role. You will be the technical pivot point for migrating large-scale, complex server environments across MS SQL, Oracle, and Exadata platforms.
The ideal candidate thrives in the "grey area." You understand that migrations rarely go strictly to plan, and you possess the technical depth to adapt your strategy as findings emerge in real-time.
Key Responsibilities
* Complex Migrations: Lead the end-to-end migration of high-volume, mission-critical databases from legacy infrastructure to modern platforms (including Exadata).
* Hybrid Ecosystem Management: Maintain high availability and performance tuning across a diverse stack of Oracle (12c-19c), MS SQL Server, and Oracle Exadata engineered systems.
* Discovery & Adaptation: Perform deep-dive environmental audits to uncover "unknowns" (dependencies, legacy configurations, data bloat) and pivot migration strategies accordingly.
* Performance Engineering: Optimize complex queries and system configurations to ensure post-migration performance meets or exceeds baseline benchmarks.
* Risk Mitigation: Develop robust contingency and roll-back plans for high-stakes cutovers.
Experience required
* Oracle Expertise: Deep experience with Oracle Database administration, including RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN.
* Exadata Specialist: Hands-on experience managing and optimizing Oracle Exadata Database Machines.
* MS SQL Mastery: Proficient in SQL Server management, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups and T-SQL optimization.
* Migration Provenance: A track record of moving multi-terabyte environments with minimal downtime and zero data loss.
* Automation: Scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to automate repetitive migration tasks and monitoring.
