Join the leadership team at one of the region’s most loved venue in Maitland! Imperial Hotel, part of the Hunt Hospitality group, is currently seeking an experienced and driven Head Chef to lead our dynamic kitchen team. This is an exciting immediate start opportunity for a culinary professional ready to step into a leadership role in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. About the Role: As the Head Chef, you will manage whole kitchen operations, maintain food quality and consistency, and ensure a smooth and efficient service. Your role will be pivotal in supporting all kitchen staff, maintaining high food safety standards, and delivering a memorable dining experience for our guests. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Menu Development: Design and implement menus that enhance the dining experience while considering the cost and seasonal availability of ingredients. Lead and motivate the kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen assistants. Manage inventory effectively to minimize waste. Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment. Monitor kitchen inventory and assist with ordering, stock rotation, and cost control. Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements. Collaborate on menu planning, specials, and seasonal offerings. Monitor kitchen expenses, including food and labor costs, to ensure profitability. Negotiate with suppliers to get the best prices for ingredients without compromising quality About You: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen, with at least 1 year as Sous Chef /Head Chef role. Experience in high-volume pub, bistro, or coastal venue kitchens is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. A passion for fresh, quality food and an eye for detail. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.
