About the Role
Commencing as soon as possible, this 24‐week temporary assignment offers flexible hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Planning Policy Officer to join a specialist policy team supporting planning and environmental policy reform during a period of significant legislative and strategic change.
This role will provide strategic policy advice and contribute to the implementation of major State Government initiatives impacting planning and development across Victoria.
Working within a collaborative and highly regarded policy function, you will provide expert advice on planning legislation, regulatory frameworks and policy matters while supporting broader policy and regulatory priorities.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high‐quality advice to internal and external stakeholders on planning legislation and its interaction with environmental regulation.
- Contribute to policy development and reform initiatives impacting Victoria's planning and setting framework.
- Support the organisation's input into legislative and policy proposals.
- Develop strategic policy advice, regulatory guidance and briefing materials.
- Work collaboratively across government and with external stakeholders.
- Contribute to branch priorities, projects and initiatives relating to land use planning and development.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
About You
- Strong experience within planning policy, planning regulation or development assessment frameworks.
- A sound understanding of the Victorian Planning Framework.
- Experience developing strategic advice, regulatory policy, guidance or legislative reform within a public policy environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience working across government.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and translate complex policy matters into practical advice.
- A proactive, risk‐based approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.
- Candidates with experience in urban planning, planning law, planning policy, environmental policy or government regulatory frameworks will be highly regarded.
- Recent Victorian Government experience is essential.
