Your Role
The purpose of this role is to produce high-quality work through effective investigation, reserving, and adjustment of claims within your client base.
Your Responsibilities
1. Analyze initial reports of claims, suits, or underlying materials to determine the nature of the loss, coverage, and scope of damage.
2. Conduct or oversee investigations related to reported claims, securing and verifying supporting documentation for accuracy, relevance, and completeness.
3. Establish accurate and timely reserves.
4. Maintain an active diary to ensure timely file development and disposition.
5. Provide exceptional service standards aligned with best practices.
6. Practice sound litigation controls over counsel.
7. Document all developments in the claim file promptly and properly.
8. Meet with relevant parties, including litigants or claimants, to resolve issues as necessary.
9. Communicate effectively with Claim Department, Customer Services, Loss Control, Underwriting, brokers, insureds, counsel, third parties, and legal representatives.
10. May direct claim representatives in file development and subrogation efforts.
11. Adhere to the Insurance Contracts Act and all relevant statutory rules and regulations.
12. Manage outside vendors efficiently, controlling their use, work product, and expenses.
13. Exercise good judgment in final claim disposition by evaluating loss nature, liability, injury/damage, coverage, and limits.
14. Participate in branch marketing efforts.
15. Perform any other duties delegated by the Claims Manager.
Skills & Experience
* A tertiary qualification; a law degree is desirable but not required.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills relevant to claims handling.
* Knowledge of insurance policies and the Insurance Contracts Act.
* Understanding of legal requirements and regulations.
* Experience in damage and/or loss evaluation.
* Negotiation skills.
* Awareness of industry trends.
* Knowledge of litigation procedures.
* Reserving skills.
* Alignment with Chubb Claims Philosophy.
