What you'll be doing
Administering, maintaining and optimising SQL Server ****+ environments across large-scale, multi-instance enterprise platforms
Delivering high-availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups and clustering technologies
Designing, developing and deploying reports using SSRS and Power BI
Providing advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, patching and monitoring support
Supporting mission-critical financial systems with complex integrations
Working collaboratively within a small team of DBAs to deliver high-quality technical outcomes
Liaising with external vendors and partners to resolve issues and enhance service delivery
Participating in on-call, after-hours and weekend support during major events or emergencies
Contributing to simplification, automation and continuous process improvement
What you'll bring
8+ years' hands-on experience as an Enterprise SQL Server DBA (SQL Server ****+), including SSRS/SSIS/SSAS
Proven experience supporting mission-critical financial or banking systems
Experience managing environments with hundreds of instances
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Advanced skills in troubleshooting, performance monitoring and tuning
Strong experience with database recovery, DR methodologies and scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell, .NET, VBScript)
Practical knowledge of SQL tools (SSMS, Profiler), operating systems, and clustering technologies
Strong communication, documentation and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to mentor others and influence technical outcomes
Flexibility to support extended hours when required
Nice to Have
Experience supporting financial institutions applications and architectures
Familiarity with ServiceNow or other ITSM tools (Incident, Problem, Change)
Knowledge of Control-M or other enterprise scheduling tools
Understanding of compliance standards (Basel III, SOX)
Exposure to SAN technologies (NetApp, EMC)
Experience using DB monitoring tools (Foglight, AppDynamics, Splunk, Elastic)
Knowledge of cloud database services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure MI, AWS RDS
