Ready to turn procurement into real business value?
Join Sugar Australia as a Procurement Specialist at our Yarraville VIC Head Office and help shape the delivery of commercially driven procurement strategies that support operational performance across our national footprint. This permanent, full-time role is ideal for a detail oriented, results focused, procurement professional with a strong understanding of supply chain operations and a passion for building effective stakeholder relationships.
The sweet things you'll be involved in:
As the Procurement Specialist, you'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of direct spend categories (e.g. packaging, raw/process materials, contract packers). You'll help identify opportunities to reduce cost and risk, manage supplier relationships, and ensure alignment between our procurement activities and business needs.
What you'll be doing:
* Managing end-to-end procurement for our direct categories, including tenders, negotiations, and contract execution.
* Developing and executing sourcing strategies that are aligned with operational and commercial business needs.
* Identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving supplier consolidation to maximise value.
* Evaluating and managing supplier performance to ensure compliance, quality, and reliability.
* Leading contract negotiations and supporting the full contract lifecycle management process.
* Conducting cost analysis and managing procurement budgets to support commercial decision-making.
* Identifying and mitigating risks across the supply chain to ensure business continuity.
* Championing continuous improvement and innovation in procurement processes and supplier engagement.
* Partnering with internal stakeholders (Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Technical) to align procurement activities with business objectives.
* Monitoring category spend, analysing pricing trends, and contributing to strategic procurement initiatives.
* Maintaining procurement systems and documentation, including SAP data, contract registers, and category compliance records.
* Providing procurement input for new product development and site-based reviews to support business KPIs.
* Supporting group-wide procurement initiatives and driving performance improvements across the function.
What we're wanting you to bring to the table:
We're looking for a commercially focused procurement professional with strong stakeholder engagement and supplier management skills. In this role, you'll act as the key connection between our internal teams and external suppliers, helping to drive value, manage risk, and support smarter commercial decisions across the business. You'll also need:
* A tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain or Procurement.
* 3-5 years' experience in a procurement specialist role, ideally within FMCG or manufacturing.
* Experience managing direct spend categories.
* Strong background in supplier management, tender processes, negotiations, and contract execution.
* Commercially minded with a practical approach - someone who can "get in and get things done".
* Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficient in Excel, SAP, and comfortable with reporting and data analysis.
