Our client, DA & S Chisholm requires an experienced Beef Cattle Farm Worker to assist in the running of their livestock breeding farm operations in southern NSW.
The employer requires someone with experience and knowledge of beef cattle, artificial insemination, general farming operations and who has the ability to execute farm program as instructed by the Farm Manager/owner.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- general farm activities such as erecting and repairing fences, maintaining and cleaning livestock infrastructure and assets;
- maintain equipment to protect value, ensure reliability and minimise operating costs;
- assist with maintaining the health and welfare of livestock, including patrolling property, inspecting and reporting on the condition of livestock;
- provide livestock with feed and water and implement livestock feeding and welfare programs including herding and droving livestock;
- carrying out birthing and rearing of young livestock;
- under direction, establish and manage pastures and crops ;
- animal husbandry and administer artificial Insemination programs for beef cattle/livestock;
- secure operation and mainteinance of general farm machinery including tractors, vehicles and all terrain vehicles
- Under instruction from Farm Manager liaise with service providers, suppliers and buyers;
- clean and maintain buildings and sheds to ensure health standards and high quality of produce;
- ensure all occupational health and safety procedures are followed and adhere to any quality assurance and training programs directed to undertake by farm Management;
- undertake activities to minimise environmental degradation; and
Skills required:
- Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure in remote areas
- At least two years of experience working with livestock
- Experience with artificial insemination procedures
- Flexible attitude to work hours and conditions
- Basic computer and technology skills required to report and monitor farming information and data
- current drivers licence (truck licence preferred).
This role is physically demanding and employees are often required to work in extreme weather conditions and outside standard hours of work dependent upon seasonal priorities.
**Salary**: $63,232.00 per year
