Electron Microscopy Technician
The successful candidate will be responsible for training researchers in the operation of Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM) and associated sample preparation techniques, ensuring both safety and user competency. This includes maintaining and developing technical documentation, coordinating equipment servicing, and delivering training across additional electron microscopy methods.
This is a full-time continuing position that requires strong communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The Technologist must demonstrate expertise in electron microscopy, specimen preparation, and laboratory operations, alongside effective problem-solving abilities and a strong commitment to health and safety compliance.
* Demonstrated experience and understanding of the operation, maintenance, and training of users on electron microscopes, with an emphasis on transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
* Demonstrated experience, and general understanding of a range of specimen preparation techniques for electron microscopy.
* Signedificant laboratory operations and maintenance experience, preferably within an electron microscopy laboratory.
* Effective scientific communication and good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds.
* Understanding of, and experience, in applying knowledge of Health, Safety and Wellbeing legislation in a laboratory environment, ensuring laboratory user compliance.
* Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills, highly organised, and the ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
