Job Overview
The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for performing scheduled servicing, long‑term maintenance, and unscheduled repairs on fleet assets, including prime movers, tankers, light vehicles, and plant equipment. The role ensures all assets are maintained in a safe, reliable, and work‑ready condition.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on company and customer equipment.
- Complete all service and breakdown documentation accurately and submit to supervisors.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and mechanical failures.
- Participate in risk assessments and report incidents, near‑misses, and hazards.
- Support apprentices and collaborate with the workshop team.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organised work areas.
Qualifications
- Hold a relevant trade qualification – Heavy Duty Mechanic (essential).
- Possess a valid car licence (essential) and HR licence (desirable); A MC licence also desirable.
- Dangerous Goods licence, Forklift high‑risk licence, and Working at heights certification (desirable).
- Confined Space training/competency (desirable).
- Current knowledge of heavy‑duty plant/vehicle maintenance and repair industry practices.
