Primary Purpose
As a Casual Disability Support Worker, you will provide holistic care to clients with disabilities across Caulfield, Murrumbeena, Bentleigh East, and surrounding suburbs. Your role will focus on daily living assistance, meal preparation, personal care, and community access, empowering clients to maintain independence while ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
* Disability Support: Deliver compassionate, person-centred care tailored to the unique needs of clients.
* Daily Living Assistance: Assist with personal care, hygiene, dressing, and other daily living tasks.
* Sleepover Shifts: Availability to provide 3 sleepover shifts per fortnight, ensuring continuity of care and support during overnight hours.
* Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook nutritious meals, assisting clients in maintaining a healthy diet.
* Household Support: Support with cleaning, tidying, and maintaining a safe and organised home environment.
* Community Access: Facilitate outings and appointments, supporting clients in engaging with their local community.
* Emotional Support: Provide companionship and reassurance, creating a positive and supportive atmosphere.
* Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and report any changes in client health, behaviour, or needs to the appropriate professionals.
* Collaboration: Work collaboratively with clients, families, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.
Skills and Attributes
* Personal Care Skills: Confidence in assisting with hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
* Cooking and Meal Prep: Ability to prepare nutritious meals, considering dietary requirements and preferences.
* Empathy and Patience: A caring approach, with the ability to support clients respectfully and compassionately.
* Strong Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with clients, families, and colleagues.
* Organisation and Initiative: Proactive in managing tasks and addressing challenges independently.
* Commitment to Quality: A dedication to providing high-quality care that meets individual client needs.
Mandatory Requirements
* Certificate IV or higher in Disability, Aged Care, or a related field (essential).
* National Police Check (Issued Within the Last 90 Days)
* NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
* Current First Aid and CPR certification.
* Working with Children Check.
* Current and valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
* Manual Handling, Medication Administration and Infection Control Training (or willingness to obtain).
* Full legal working rights in Australia.
