We’re preparing to open the doors to our brand new Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre. An exciting space designed to bring people together through creativity, innovation, and unforgettable experiences. As we gear up for opening day, we’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable casual team members to help us support test events and form the new Food and Beverage team. Set to open in July 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront, Nyaal Banyul will be Australia’s newest convention and event centre. Operated by the Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET), this premier venue features a 1,000-seat theatre and 3,700 square meters of versatile event space, ready to host everything from community gatherings to major conferences and entertainment events.

What you’re here to do
* Be a leader who doesn't manage from the side lines but sets the pace on the floor, leading by example to inspire a culture off accountability and excellence.
* Maintain effective communication between clients and internal stakeholders.
* Make sure all catering staff, including agency personnel, are thoroughly briefed on the event details and clearly understand the client’s expectations.
* Lead by example and instil a sense of ownership within the Food and Beverage Team.
* Comply with organisational safety standards and monitor this throughout your duty period.
* Develop and execute training programs for Food and Beverage staff to enhance skills and productivity through continuous improvement.
* Monitor rosters for event-specific staff and agency staff, ensure effective resource utilisation and maintain accurate staff records, including time sheets.
* Monitor and maintain Food & Beverage equipment and resources.
* Assist Setup teams to ensure all exhibitions and event rooms are set up & packed down to specifications and services are delivered to client in a timely manner.
What you will need
* Proven experience in team leadership and/or management within the hospitality or events industry
* Extensive background in hospitality or corporate catering and/or retail operations
* Ability to support and train casual staff within the Food and Beverage teams
* Proficient in using computer systems and software
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills
