As a Traffic Controller with our team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety of road users, pedestrians, and onsite crews. This position involves implementing traffic management plans to mitigate potential hazards, working collaboratively with other teams to achieve project goals, and maintaining open communication through effective use of two-way radios.
You will be responsible for performing routine tasks such as pothole repair, sign replacement, and vegetation management, as well as more complex duties like traffic control, equipment loading/unloading, and monitoring pedestrian/cyclist flow. We're looking for candidates who possess excellent spatial awareness, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Implement traffic management plans in accordance with company procedures and industry standards
* Monitor and report any hazards or near misses on-site
* Load and unload traffic signs and equipment as required
* Set up, implement, and monitor Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes to meet all safety and quality requirements
* Use Stop/Slow signs or bats to control traffic when required
* Follow directions from Scheduling, Operations, Team Leaders, Foremen, Inspectors, and Auditors
* Operate a Visual Message Board or Truck Mounted Attenuation when needed (with valid and current tickets/licenses)
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* BWTM TC (minimum required)
* White Card
* Driver's License; a WA license is preferred, however an Australian license or an international license from a DoT-recognised country will also be accepted
* AWTM and/or WTM and/or OTMA Accreditation will be highly regarded
* A strong commitment to safety, with good attention to detail and spatial awareness
* Additional industry-related training or inductions (e.g., WaterCorp, Western Power) will be highly regarded
* For those without experience, a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential
