A general practice in Gympie is looking for a VR or non-VR, procedural or non-procedural Medical Practitioner. A generous remuneration package is on offer plus special remuneration for after hours service. Hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. No weekends. After hours is divided between 3 doctors.
Gympie is about two and a half hours (160 kms) north of Brisbane and one and a half hours south of Hervey Bay. The Gympie/Cooloola region has a population of about 54,000 people. Gympie has a very good hospital with visiting specialists, allied health, community health, dental clinic and mental health clinic as well as other services.
Gympie also has three local pathology services which offer home service as well as two radiology and nuclear medicine services. There are many private and public schools in Gympie and surrounding areas and five child care centres.
The practice currently has one full-time GP, one part-time GP, a registered nurse, practice manager and two receptionists. They have a specialist Nephrologist & General Physician visiting every 2 weeks and a Dietician & Diabetic Educator also visiting every 1-2 weeks. A Respiratory Educator is available in the public hospital and accepts referrals from the community.
The bulk of patients are middle-aged adults with chronic disease.
At the moment, the practice is transitioning from bulk billing to private billing. The process should be completed in a couple of weeks.
