We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Engineer to join our APAC Manufacturing Operations team, based at our Devonport site in Tasmania. This role reports to the Plant Director, Devonport.
This is a hands‐on, technically focused role that sits at the centre of our sustainability agenda, with a strong emphasis on driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site. You will play a key role in supporting environmental compliance while actively identifying opportunities to enhance performance across water, energy, waste, wastewater and emissions.
Working closely with cross‐functional teams, you will translate data and insights into practical actions, leading or supporting projects that deliver meaningful improvements aligned to site and corporate sustainability targets.
This role goes beyond compliance, offering the opportunity to proactively shape sustainability outcomes through innovation, technical expertise, and strong stakeholder engagement across the facility.
What you will do
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across water, energy, waste, wastewater and emissions to enhance overall site sustainability performance
* Ensure environmental compliance, maintaining site licences and regulatory requirements while proactively identifying risks and opportunities for improvement
* Analyse sustainability data and translate insights into practical, site‐based actions that improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact
* Lead or support sustainability projects, taking ideas from concept through to implementation and tracking outcomes
* Work closely with cross‐functional teams including Operations, Engineering and Quality to embed sustainable practices into day‐to‐day operations
* Support and continuously improve the Environmental Management System, including audits and reporting
* Contribute to water, wastewater and waste management optimisation, identifying trends and improving processes
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support sustainability initiatives and site performance
About You
* Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
* Experience in environmental compliance, sustainability performance and continuous improvement, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Strong technical capability across areas such as energy optimisation, waste reduction, and water and wastewater management
* Ability to analyse data and translate insights into practical, site‐based improvements
* Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and relevant regulatory requirements
* Proactive problem‐solving mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and lead initiatives through to delivery
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross‐functional teams. Self‐motivated and comfortable working autonomously, managing priorities and driving outcomes in a hands‐on environment.
