It plays a critical role in engaging with Bankwest colleagues and stakeholders on Bankwest’s evolving journey, including its national growth strategy and innovative digital banking offering, its customer-obsessed team of WA-based colleagues, and Bankwest’s broader social and economic impact as a major WA-based national business and employer. Do work that matters The Senior Manager, Communications plays a pivotal role in protecting and promoting Bankwest’s brand and reputation. This role leads the development and execution of strategic communications programs across media relations, stakeholder engagement, issues and crisis management, and content creation and distribution. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders and a key contributor to Bankwest’s external narrative. To be successful in this role, some of the broad roles and responsibilities may include: Media Relations Serve as a primary media contact, managing relationships with key journalists and outlets to maximise positive exposure Develop and execute proactive media strategies aligned with Bankwest’s business priorities and campaigns. Provide media training and briefing support to senior leaders and spokespeople. Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry bodies, and community partners Support speaking engagements and public appearances, ensuring alignment with Bankwest’s strategic messaging Issues and Crisis Management Lead the Communications Response Team (CRT) during crisis events, coordinating with the First Response Team (FRT) to deliver timely and accurate communications Maintain and evolve Bankwest’s Crisis Communications Plan, ensuring readiness across channels and teams Monitor emerging issues and provide strategic counsel to mitigate reputational risk. Content Development and Distribution Create and manage high-impact content across earned, owned, and social channels to support Bankwest’s narrative and leadership visibility Collaborate with digital, legal, and customer teams to ensure content is compliant, engaging, and responsive to audience needs Oversee quarterly media analysis and sentiment tracking to inform content strategy We’re interested in hearing from people who possess the following: Proven experience in senior communications roles, preferably within financial services or regulated industries. Demonstrated success in media relations, crisis communications, and stakeholder engagement. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats and platforms. Strong understanding of digital media, social platforms, and analytics.
