Head of Engineering - Utility-Scale Solutions
Location: Perth or Brisbane
We’re partnering with a global energy solutions provider delivering large-scale, flexible power and infrastructure projects across renewables, thermal and hybrid systems.
With a strong presence in Australia and a growing pipeline of utility-scale opportunities, the business is looking to appoint a Head of Engineering to lead its technical function across Western Australia.
The Role
This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing engineering across a diverse portfolio of utility-scale energy projects.
You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring technical excellence across project design, execution and delivery. The role spans multiple technologies and requires a broad, solutions-focused approach to engineering rather than a purely power systems lens.
Working closely with commercial, delivery and operational teams, you will play a key role in shaping project outcomes, supporting bids and ensuring engineering inputs are aligned with both client requirements and broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team across Western Australia
* Oversee engineering design and technical delivery across utility-scale energy projects (including hybrid and off-grid solutions)
* Provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept and bid support through to execution and commissioning
* Ensure engineering outputs meet required standards across safety, quality, cost and schedule
* Work closely with commercial and project delivery teams to develop competitive, technically robust solutions
* Manage and coordinate external engineering consultants and OEMs where required
* Support risk identification and mitigation across technical scopes
* Contribute to strategic planning, capability build-out and continuous improvement of engineering processes
About You
* Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer, with strong foundational engineering capability
* Proven experience leading engineering functions or teams within utility-scale energy, infrastructure or power generation environments
* Broad technical exposure across generation technologies (renewables, thermal, hybrid systems), with the ability to take a solutions-led approach
* Strong understanding of project delivery, including design, procurement and construction interfaces
* Experience working in complex, fast-paced environments with multiple stakeholders
* Commercial awareness, with the ability to support bids and align engineering outcomes with project economics
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of building and developing teams
