About the Role

The Senior Environmental Consultant leads the delivery of medium-sized planning approvals and contributes to larger, multidisciplinary projects. This role includes mentoring junior team members, managing client relationships, and ensuring project outcomes meet Element’s quality standards. Technical leadership and contribution to business development are also key aspects of the role. You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of projects and play an important role in supporting Element’s continued growth.


What You’ll Do


Project Management

* Lead and manage planning approvals including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Statements of Environmental Effects (SEEs), Reviews of Environmental Factors (REFs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
* Deliver medium to large projects on time and within agreed budgets.
* Prepare clear, well-structured reports that explain key issues, approval pathways and recommendations.
* Help clients understand complex planning and environmental legislation, translating requirements into clear, practical actions.
* Work collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary project teams on larger and more complex projects.


Clients

* Provide clear, practical advice that supports confident client decision-making.
* Develop solutions that meet regulatory requirements while aligning with client objectives.
* Build strong client relationships that lead to ongoing work and support business growth.


People

* Coach and support junior team members in their technical work and professional development.
* Manage contractors and sub-consultants to ensure outputs meet Element’s quality and delivery standards.
* Live Element’s values through everyday actions, contributing positively to team culture and the way we work together.


About You

* Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or a related discipline.
* 5–7 years’ experience in environmental consulting, with strong understanding of planning legislation within NSW.
* Strong technical experience across planning pathways including Development Applications (DAs), State Significant Developments (SSDs), Reviews of Environmental Factors (REFs) and Modifications.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly in plain English.
* Confident managing projects independently and working collaboratively across teams.
* Proficient in Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat Pro; experience with Accelo or similar systems is desirable.
* Enjoy coaching others and contributing positively to a team environment.
