Description
Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, The People & Culture Advisor will provide on-the-ground HR support to the construction execution and operational readiness phases of the project. The role is responsible for delivering consistent and compliant people practices onsite, supporting leaders and employees, and ensuring the project meets its workforce, culture, and regulatory requirements as it transitions from construction to operations.
This role will be based onsite in Cloncurry which offers FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville or DIDO locally, with local candidates highly regarded. Our roster is 8 days on, 6 days off.
Responsibilities
People Support & Advisory
* Provide timely advice to supervisors, superintendents, and project leaders on HR matters including performance, conduct, rosters, leave, entitlements, and workplace behaviour.
* Act as the first point of contact for onsite people-related inquiries.
* Support the implementation of People & Culture policies, procedures, and standards across the site.
Construction Execution Support
* Assist with mobilisation processes including onboarding, inductions, credential checks, and coordination with site access, training, and travel functions.
* Provide ER/IR support by monitoring contractor compliance with agreements, project workforce requirements, and statutory obligations.
* Support workforce planning updates by maintaining accurate site personnel records, headcount reporting, and roster change impacts.
Operational Readiness & Transition
* Support the development and rollout of operational readiness activities including organisational design, role transitions, training needs analysis, and change management.
* Assist in aligning site-based practices with corporate systems and future operations frameworks.
Employee Relations & Site Culture
* Support positive working relationships between employees, contractors, and site leadership.
* Assist in addressing workplace issues early, escalating matters appropriately to the P&C Manager.
* Promote a culture of psychological safety, diversity, inclusion, and respectful behaviours.
Training, Development & Compliance
* Coordinate mandatory training, refresher courses, and site compliance requirements in partnership with training and safety teams.
* Ensure accurate recordkeeping for training, competencies, and licences.
* Support implementation of programs such as leadership development, values initiatives, and wellbeing activities.
HR Administration & Systems
* Maintain accurate and confidential employee information in HRIS and site-based systems.
* Prepare reports on headcount, turnover, absenteeism, and workforce metrics.
* Support recruitment processes including shortlisting, interview coordination, and facilitating onboarding.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should be self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively with:
* Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Previous experience as an HR Advisor or Coordinator, preferably in mining, construction, resources, or heavy industry.
* Strong understanding of HR processes, employment legislation, and ER/IR fundamentals.
* Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment and build strong relationships across site.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Previous experience working on a FIFO/BIBO roster or remote construction project.
* Exposure to operational readiness or major capital project environments.
* Experience supporting contractor-heavy workforces.
