Learning support officer (mount clear)

Central to the mission of Emmaus Catholic Primary School is an undeniable commitment to fostering the dignity, self‐esteem and integrity of children and young people while providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development.

Learning Support Officers work with students who have diverse learning needs within the learning spaces, either on a one‐to‐one basis or in small group situations. The support can encompass a range of needs, including physical, personal care, intellectual, and social‐emotional development.

• Display an understanding of the Catholic ethos and demonstrate living out the mission of the school.
• Support the teaching and learning of the Catholic ethos and tradition.
• Provide one‐to‐one or small group support to primary aged children with diverse learning needs.
• Ensure a safe and child‐protected environment.
• Apply inclusive learning practices and promote independence in students with diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve high levels of learning, balancing initiative, and seeking direction from classroom teachers.

• Full support for the teaching and learning of the Catholic ethos and tradition.
• Experience and/or qualifications working with primary aged children (preferred).
• Awareness and commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children.
• Knowledge of inclusive learning practices for children with diverse learning needs.
• Unconditional positive regard and an ability to be flexible and energized.
• Proven commitment to developing independence in students with diverse learning needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve high levels of learning.
• Understanding of balancing initiative, seeking direction, and supporting classroom teachers.
