Employment type – Ongoing 38 Hours

Salary - $101,981.00 + Incidental allowance, Superannuation and Leave Loading

Your role

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Senior Trade Overseer to work within our Facility Maintenance Unit at Long Bay Correctional Complex, Malabar.

What you'll do

Join an organisation with a rich history where your trade experience is valued. Senior Trade Overseers are trade qualified Correctional Officers with the essential role of supervising and training inmates and staff in their work-related activities (undertaking facilities maintenance activities) within a correctional centre. The role carries the responsibilities of a correctional officer, to ensure that safety and security is maintained within the correctional centre.

Provide leadership and mentoring to Overseers and supervise and develop inmates through managing, coaching, instructing, and encouraging them, as members of a team, in order that they may improve their work skills, enhance their post-release employment prospects, and contribute productively to Business Unit objectives.

* Electrical Candidates – Must possess Related Trade qualification and hold a current related NSW Fair Trading Electrical Contractor Licence or Qualified Supervisor Certificate. (ACMA Open Cabling Registration or equivalent industry approved qualification is desirable)
* Possess proven trade experience, coordinating trade staff and operational activity.
* Be willing to; participate in a cyclic after-hours on-call roster, work overtime when required, work flexibly across trades to meet operational needs.
* Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes
* Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role.

Successful candidates are provided with paid training to undertake Certificate III in Correctional Practice at an allocated Brush Farm Corrective Services Academy training facility.

Note : Candidates applying for Talent Pool consideration - must possess NSW Fair Trading – Trade Licences for trade roles where licences are required to conduct work, (Electrical Plumbing, HVAC).

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce reoffending and create safer communities. We house remand and sentenced inmates in correctional centres and supervise offenders serving orders in the community.

CSNSW provides reports and advice to courts and releasing / parole authorities and assesses offenders in the community and in custody for relevant interventions to reduce their risks of reoffending. CSNSW works in partnership with other government and non-government justice and human services agencies to support victims, facilitate restorative justice and promote reintegration.
