Qualification and skills required
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, but a Master's Degree is preferable
* Additional qualification in Business or Management would be a valuable asset
* At least 1 year of experience on a similar role, preferably within a labour hire, manufacturing or construction context
* Strong organizational skills, problem solving, attention to detail
* Proven ability to train new accounting staff
Key responsibilities
* Preparing management reports, including budgets, forecasts, and financial performance schedules for directors
* Analysing variances between actual results and budgets, and reporting on financial performance to management
* Ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, GST legislation, and internal financial control procedures
* Liaising with the Financial Controller and assisting in relation to taxation, statutory reporting, and financial statement preparation, with Accountant responsible for internal accounting records and reporting inputs
* Maintaining records in the accounting information system (MYOB)
* Conducting GST reconciliations and preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS) for lodgement
* Actively training and onboarding new accounting team members, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance, and developing accounting manuals, procedures, and internal process documentation
* Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, prepayments, and adjusting journals
* Preparing and performing monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger reviews
