The Role We’re seeking a proactive and commercially minded Materials Planner to join our Supply Chain team at Pakenham, reporting to the Supply Planning Manager. This 12-month contract role is critical to ensuring our plants have the right raw and packaging materials available to execute the Master Supply Plan—while maintaining inventory accuracy and staying within policy min/max settings. You will lead RM/PKG supply planning, manage the MRP plan and supplier schedules, coordinate purchase orders and deliveries, support NPD execution plans, and reduce waste through strong inventory management and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include: 1) Raw/Pack Materials Supply Planning Ensure RM/PKG availability to minimise changes to the production plan and support Master Schedule Stability Partner with Production Planning to resolve schedule changes and anticipated delays Create and maintain an accurate MRP plan and supplier schedules, including lead times, lot sizes and safety stocks Review supply plans and confirm supplier capability across the Planning Time Fence and IBP horizon Monitor weekly consumption vs requirements and escalate exceptions to Production Planning/Operations/Finance Manage material receipts and on-hand balances in line with inventory controls/cycle counts Purchase order management and coordination with Inward Logistics to schedule deliveries Collate and report supplier DIFOT, identify root causes and corrective actions; escalate to Procurement as required Identify and manage SLOB in consultation with Inventory Optimisation Participate in schedule meetings, present performance, and align on schedule firming decisions Minimise material liability post product deletions; communicate component constraints impacting finished goods availability Prepare for supplier engagement sessions (fortnightly/monthly) 2) NPD / Packaging Renovation Execution Develop activation strategies for material and product changes to minimise cost and supply chain impacts Prepare and monitor depletion plans for impacted raw materials and packaging Ensure materials for launches/promotions are called off to agreed lead times 3) Master Data Maintain planning master data to required standards (MRP settings, BOM updates for packaging changes and other planning inputs) 4) WIP Scheduling Own WIP scheduling for the Perth plant and coordinate with planners/schedulers to align WIP supply to weekly finished goods production 5) Continuous Improvement Drive improvements to reduce inventory coverage and material out-of-stocks Partner with suppliers to reduce lead times, optimise MOQs and increase purchase frequency to better match usage patterns The Person You’re calm under pressure, highly organised, and great at simplifying complexity. You build strong cross-functional relationships and use data to drive the right commercial outcomes. You’ll bring: Strong Materials Planning / MRP capability and experience with production scheduling and site constraints (batch sizes, capacity, etc.) Experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment (ideally 5 years) Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Stakeholder management skills to align teams around shared goals Systems capability: ERP experience (M3/SAP or similar), plus strong Excel/PowerPoint; familiarity with reporting tools (e.g., Cognos/ThoughtSpot) beneficial Alignment to Patties values of Trust, Ownership, Courage and Integrity What We Offer You At Patties Food Group, we’re passionate about our people, brands and culture.
