About the role
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Guidance Counsellor to join our dynamic team at Toogoolawa School in Ormeau, Queensland. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the social, emotional and academic development of our students.
What you'll be doing
* Lead proactive and preventative initiatives that support students' holistic development, mental health, and wellbeing.
* Manage and deliver counselling and consulting services for students.
* Conduct psycho-educational and related assessments as required.
* Implement Toogoolawa protocols and uphold established quality processes.
* Maintain high professional and ethical standards of practice.
* Apply guidance counselling skills through individual, group, systemic, and whole-school interventions.
* Engage in regular individual and group supervision, including clinical and technical mentoring activities.
What we're looking for
* Registration with the Teacher with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) plus completed Masters in school guidance and counselling
* Experience working as a Guidance Counsellor or in a similar student support role, ideally within an educational setting
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively liaise with students, parents, and school staff
* Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
* A deep understanding of child and adolescent development, as well as current best practices in student support and mental health
* Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people
* Support student pathways by providing advice on career planning, further education, training, and employment opportunities, and liaising with external providers as needed.
