Join our Corporate Legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2026. This role offers flexibility, with the option to work full-time or part-time (29 hours per week).

About the role

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will support the legal workstreams associated with the implementation of APRA's Prudential Standard CPS 230 - Operational Risk Management. You will work with other teams and stakeholders across ART to ensure ART's compliance with CPS 230.

Day to day, you'll:

* Provide comprehensive legal advice on obligations arising under CPS 230, to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and manage legal risk.
* Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents, particularly those involving material service providers and outsourcing arrangements.
* Advise on internal governance frameworks, risk policies and procedures to align with CPS 230 requirements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal alignment with strategic objectives.
* Manage external legal engagements to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal support.
* Share legal knowledge proactively within the team and across the broader business where relevant.
* Promote a strong risk culture, focusing on legal and reputational risk management.

We have office locations in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth but we would be happy to consider candidates in other locations across Australia.

About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

* Tertiary qualifications in law and current unrestricted practising certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
* Extensive post admission experience with a law firm or financial services provider working in the area of superannuation or financial services.
* Knowledge of Commonwealth and State legislation as it relates to financial services, particularly superannuation, advice and life insurance.
* Ability to lead negotiations on a range of complex and high value matters.
* Robust negotiation, drafting, influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels.
* Experience in advising and working collaboratively with business teams to deliver time and business critical projects.
* Proven ability to provide professional, concise advice and solutions to technical, legislative and strategic issues.
