Wall and floor tilers are required for a demanding construction role. This position requires precision, efficiency, and attention to detail.
Main Responsibilities:
* Examine plans, measure surfaces, and lay out tiling work according to specifications
* Prepare surfaces by removing old tiles, adhesive, and grout; filling cracks and holes; and cleaning surfaces for proper adhesion
* Spread adhesive materials onto prepared surfaces and tiles, setting them accurately in position
* Cut and shape tiles using tile-cutting tools for edges, corners, and fixtures like pipes and taps
* Align tiles correctly and space them evenly for a professional finish
* Install flooring made from durable compositions like granolithic and terrazzo
* Design and lay coloured tiles in intricate patterns for mosaics or decorative features
* Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications
* Maintain tool cleanliness during and after installations
Requirements and Skills:
* AQF Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling or equivalent qualification
* At least two years of on-the-job training, or three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications
* ANZSCO Skill Level 3
* Proven experience in wall and floor tiling across various materials and surface types
* Skilled in tile preparation, cutting, laying, grouting, and finishing
* Ability to interpret plans and work with measurements accurately
* Physically fit and comfortable working in varied environments
* Strong attention to detail and high standards of workmanship
* Good time management and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
