About the role
Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a Technical Director – Structural Engineering to join our Melbourne team in a key strategic leadership position. This role will lead our growing Structural Engineering team ensuring the successful delivery of multi-disciplinary projects across a variety of sectors, driving technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the structural business, fostering strong client relationships, and empowering a high-performing team to deliver outstanding outcomes for our clients.
How you'll make a difference
* Lead the execution of the sector‑specific strategy, driving profitable growth through pursuit leadership, client engagement and market differentiation across multi‑disciplinary projects.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry partners and stakeholders, promoting AECOM's capability and technical excellence across the market.
* Provide project and people leadership, direction and support to the team through effective recruitment, mentoring, succession planning and a focus on well‑being, inclusion and professional development.
* Ensure delivery excellence and governance across all projects, maintaining AECOM's high standards of quality, safety, digital innovation and client satisfaction.
* Champion collaboration and operational efficiency by leveraging enterprise work‑share, implementing change initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with, ideally, more than 18 years of relevant experience in Structural Engineering.
* Successful track record in delivering multi‑disciplinary major projects across a variety of market sectors, with substantial people and project leadership experience.
* Proven team leadership and people‑management skills across diverse and large teams.
* Proven ability to manage complex projects from concept to delivery, ensuring technical excellence, quality outcomes, and client satisfaction.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with demonstrated success in guiding and developing high‑performing teams and building enduring client relationships.
* Commercially astute, with strong business development capabilities, excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and discipline‑specific engineering software.
